Tyler Wagner publishes first paper with CIDAR

CIDAR PhD student Tyler Wagner’s paper, “Model-Driven Engineering of Gene Expression from RNA Replicons,” has been published in ACS Synthetic Biology.

This makes it his first publication with CIDAR — congrats, Tyler!

Evan Appleton’s paper “Regulating gene drives” published in Science

Evan Appleton’s work with a multidisciplinary team from Synberc (Synthetic Biology Engineering Research Center) has been published in Science: “Regulating gene drives”.

The paper has also been written about in The New York Times, National Geographic, The Boston Globe, and Nova.

Raven paper accepted into Nature Methods, blogged by Nicole Rusk

The CIDAR group’s latest publication, Interactive assembly algorithms for molecular cloning, has been accepted by Nature Methods.

It addresses the problem of planning assembly schemes for molecular cloning, and was mentioned by senior editor Nicole Rusk in her recent blog post regarding impactful Synthetic Biology publications in Nature Methods.

CIDAR researchers win Best Poster awards at SynBERC

Several of CIDAR’s researchers took home Best Poster awards from the 2013 SynBERC Fall Retreat at MIT.

Post-doc Ernst Oberortner’s poster on Eugene, presented by Aaron Heuckroth, won in the Software category.

Evan Appleton collaborated on a poster for the SynBERC SPA, which won in the Practices category.

CIDAR lab members Evan Appleton and Viktor Vasilev (along with two other BU Bioinformatics PhD students) win 3rd Best Poster prize at The 11th Annual International Workshop on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology hosted in Berlin, Germany for their poster: “Comparative Gene Expression Analysis in Non-Human Primates Infected with Anthrax, Poxviruses and Filoviruses” (Advisor: Dr. John Connor, BUSM).
