BU’S Biological Design Center Launched

Boston University’s Biological Design Center will bring together interdisciplinary research in all areas of engineered biology including synthetic biology and tissue engineering. The BioDesign Center will be housed in what will be the Center for Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering (CILSE) building.

CoSBI Gets a New Home

In late May or early summer of 2015, at what is now a parking lot at 610 Commonwealth Avenue, BU will break ground for its new Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering (CILSE), a $140 million, state-of-the-art, nine-story research facility that will bring together life scientists, engineers, and physicians from the Medical and Charles River Campuses.

Professor Douglas Densmore and Dr. Swapnil Bhatia represented CIDAR and Lattice Automation at the NSF I-Corps program, which helps engineers bring their ideas into the marketplace by providing training and grant money.

Dr. Swapnil Bhatia begins Research Assistant Professorship

Dr. Swapnil Bhatia is now a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at Boston University.

Dr. Bhatia contributed to many CIDAR projects as a post-doctorate researcher, and will maintain an ongoing collaboration with us as he forms his own research group.

CIDAR researchers win Best Poster awards at SynBERC

Several of CIDAR’s researchers took home Best Poster awards from the 2013 SynBERC Fall Retreat at MIT.

Post-doc Ernst Oberortner’s poster on Eugene, presented by Aaron Heuckroth, won in the Software category.

Evan Appleton collaborated on a poster for the SynBERC SPA, which won in the Practices category.
